Posted 11/18/08: I must say thank you to the author first and foremost for this writing. It absolutely brought me to re-examine myself and "slow down" to understand where these children are coming from. As someone who works with special needs children, it is easy to sometimes not consider or even attempt to understand who they really are. It takes true gifting and patience and I honor Mrs. Williams-Hines for being one of the few who've chosen a different approach with an autistic child and even the passion to inform others of how "normal" people really are, aside from labels or diagnostics. Her writing is simple enough for a child, yet complex enough to even stir something within an adult. Great job and continue in the efforts!
